Wilbur D. Willeke worked for Excello/Airfoil Textron

Wilbur D. Willeke, age 93, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Vancrest of Ada.  

He was born on November 7, 1930 in Dunkirk, Ohio to the late Glenn and Hester (Wilcox) Willeke. On August 24, 1952 Wilbur married Wilma A. Boecher and she survives in Ada. 

Bulldog boys basketball victimized by W-G’s Glick

WAYNESFIELD__Waynesfield-Goshen rode a hot-shooting second period to a convincing 69-55 victory over the youthful Ada High School boys basketball team Thursday, December 28, in the nightcap of a girls-boys doubleheader.

Bulldog girls basketball nipped by Tigers in thriller

WAYNESFIELD__The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team battled but came up just short at Waynesfield-Goshen 48-45 in a nailbiter that went down to the last second Thursday night, December 28.

Ada senior guard Olivia Burkhart poured in a career-high 28 points to keep the Bulldog girls close. Her last-second halfcourt heave could have forced overtime, but it narrowly missed to preserve the Waynesfield win.

The Lady Bulldogs dropped to 4-6 with the non-conference defeat. 

The Tiger girls improved to 3-4 after the hard-fought victory.

LIMA__The Ada High School swim teams competed at the annual Lima Holiday Invitational Thursday, December 28, at the Lima YMCA.

Patricia A. Reed worked at Lima Memorial Health System

Patricia A. Reed, age 69, of Waynesfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Lima Memorial Health System.  

She was born on June 11, 1954, in Bluffton, Ohio to the late Harold and Margaret (Lee) Lusk.  On January 7, 1978 Patricia married E. Douglas Reed and he preceded her in death on March 16, 2018. 

Patricia is survived by her four children: Mike (Kristine) Reed of Lebanon Marc Reed of Waynesfield, Adam Reed of Harrod and Katie Reed of Waynesfield; two grandchildren: Andrew and Lauren; a sister, Linda (Rick) Stoermer; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Patton.
