Early October 2023 fields reports from Ohio Division of Wildlife

Northwest Ohio – Wildlife District Two 
In August, State Wildlife Officer Michele Butler, assigned to Erie County, patrolled the shoreline of Sandusky Bay. She observed an angler on a pier throw a beverage can into the water after finishing it. Officer Butler contacted the fisherman and issued him a citation for littering. He pleaded no contest in Sandusky Municipal Court and paid $145 in fines and court costs.

CROSS COUNTRY: SUNY Geneseo Invitational
GENESEO, N.Y.__The Ohio Northern women's cross country team finished ninth out of 23 teams at the 42nd Annual SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational Saturday morning at the National Warplane Museum.

The men's cross country team finished ninth out of 25 teams at the 42nd Annual SUNY Geneseo Mike Woods Invitational Saturday morning at the National Warplane Museum.

Bulldog boys soccer knocked out by Eagles in sectional finals

FINDLAY__The Ada boys soccer team lost to top-seeded Liberty-Benton 10-2 in the Div. III sectional finals Saturday morning, October 21, to finish their 2023 season.

Bulldog junior ace Logan Jolliff netted both Ada goals.

The Bulldog campaign ended with a record of 4-8-6 after the elimination defeat which snapped a two-match win streak.

Liberty-Benton improved to 11-4-3 and advanced to the district semifinals October 25 at Tiffin vs. Edison (11-7) with the win. 

After enduring a slow start against a tough schedule, the Eagles have caught fire. L-B is unbeaten (9-0-2) in its last 11 matches.

U.S. Secret Service to conduct ‘simulation training’ at ONU

The United States Secret Service (USSS) will visit Ohio Northern University on Monday, Oct. 23 to conduct simulation training focused on real-life scenarios, and for recruiting purposes.

From 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., students from academic departments and athletic teams, including ONU Men’s Lacrosse team members, will assist USSS special agents as volunteers. Small group simulations will begin at 10:00 a.m. around campus, however, the best viewing time will be 11:15 a.m. on the Tundra during a “political rally” simulation. Scenarios will be fluid and times are approximate.
