Ada Bulldogs girls soccer shut out at Delphos St. John’s

DELPHOS __The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 nailbiter to non-league foe Delphos St. John’s Monday evening, September 9.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-2 with the defeat.  

DSJ, which competes in the Western Ohio Soccer League, improved to 4-3 after the victory.

The Blue Jay goal came off a scramble in front of the net that the Bulldogs were unable to clear out in time. 

“Sometimes teams just have a bad night,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “Delphos has an experienced team, and we knew going in scoring was going to be hard.

Valve maintenance will take place through October 25

The Village of Ada has notified residents that the Public Works Department will be performing routine maintenance on valves beginning this week of September 10.

This routine maintenance work has a  projected completion date of October 25.

The notice says the work is being done "to exercise main line valves throughout the distribution system to assure reliable operation and maintain water quality."

Ada Bulldog volleyball sweeps Vanlue

VANLUE __ The visiting Ada High School volleyball team defeated Vanlue in three sets to record their first-ever Blanchard Valley Conference win Monday evening, September 9.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the BVC this season after the 25-16, 25-18, 25-18 sweep on the road. 

Vanlue fell to 6-1 and 0-1 in the BVC with the defeat.

Junior Anna Conley hammered a dozen kills for the second match in a row to pace the Ada hitting attack.

Sophomore setter Jaylin St. Laurent passed out 30 assists.  

Senior Jenna Bassitt led the Bulldogs with 20 digs. Senior Tess Griffith mustered 13 digs. 

Ada Bulldog boys soccer wins vs. Fort Jennings

ADA __ The Ada High School boys soccer team rode a big second half to convincingly defeat Fort Jennings 6-1 on Monday evening, September 9, at War Memorial Stadium.

The Bulldogs scored five second-half goals to break away from a halftime tie and win.

Ada improved to 5-2 overall with the decisive non-league victory to already surpass last season’s win total of four. The Musketeers fell to 2-5 after the defeat. 

“The first half Ft. Jennings came out strong and competed,” said AHS head coach Aaron Acheson. “They used a 4-5-1 formation, and we had to figure out how to attack that alignment. 

Ada chamber hosts member meeting on Sept. 18

Featured speaker Sheila Coressel at 8:30 a.m. meeting

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership meeting on Wednesday, September 18 at 8:30 a.m. at the Ada Public Library.

Please note the new start time—which was adjusted it to accommodate those with school drop-offs.

A featured speaker will be Shelia Coressel, Democratic candidate for the 83rd House District and Ada Village Council member.
