Bulldog softball wins DJ battle, stays atop NWC

ADA __ The Ada High School softball team dodged several threats to defeat visiting Delphos Jefferson 5-3 in a key Northwest Conference contest Monday, April 22.

The Bulldogs improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the NWC with their sixth win in a row. 

Ada is first in the league standings after Allen East upset defending champion Crestview 5-4 Monday on a game-winning home run by Mustang catcher Savana Brooks.

DJ fell to 9-8-2 overall and 2-2 in the NWC after the defeat.

“Delphos hit the ball well,” said third-year Ada head coach Jeff Bassitt. “We never really got the bats going but it is nice to get another win.”

The Village of Ada will host two informational sessions with background on governmental utility aggregation (gas and electricity) prior to putting the issue on the ballot for Ada residents.

Thank you to our viewers who shared their thoughts and photos of the April 8 total solar eclipse (video HERE).

Beth Howard of Ada commented, "Eclipse day was a fun family day. The kids played football and took breaks often to put on their glasses and check the sun. Our playlist for the day included "Walking on the Sun" and "Dancing in the Moonlight." Then we all looked up and were amazed! WOW!"

Photographer Ken Collins captured the full eclipse and a moment when the sun was not quite covered by the moon, demonstrating the awesome power of the fiery orb.

Gail Altstaetter of the Mercantile on Main sent a heavenly image of downtown Ada with the darkened sky laced by wisps of cloud.
