Angle throws for 276 yards, 3 TDS in ONU in at Wilmington

Junior Patrick Angle completed 21-of-26 passes for 276 yards and three touchdowns and ran 10 times for 32 yards and another score to lead the Ohio Northern football team to a 52-10 win at Wilmington on a warm and windy Saturday afternoon at Williams Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 5-4 overall and are 4-4 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Quakers fall to 0-9, 0-8.

Sophomore Devon Price caught eight passes for 128 yards and a TD and sophomore Justin Magazine carried 16 times for 48 yards and a pair of scores for the Polar Bears.

Senior Josh Bryan had a team-high 7 tackles and a pass break up to lead the Ohio Northern defense.

After fumbling on its first possession, ONU scored on its next eight possessions to put the game away.

"It was just a solid performance in every aspect of the game," ONU head coach Dean Paul said. "Our defense played well and kept them out of the end zone in the first half and our offense converted in key situations to keep drives alive. Our guys made plays today and god the job done."

Ohio Northern struck first when Angle hit Price on a 34-yard touchdown pass on the Polar Bears' second possession and it was 7-0 ONU with 6:51 left in the opening period.

Sophomore Andrew DiMario nailed a 33-yard field goal on Northern's third possession and it was a 10-0 game wth 1:51 left in the first period.

Magazine plowed in from 6 yards out on the second play of the second quarter to put the Polar Bears up 17-0.

After a 33-yard field goal pulled Wilmington within 17-3, Angle connected with junior Shaile Chamberlain on an 18-yard TD pass and Northern led 24-3 with 7:09 left before the half.

Angle then kept from 2 yards out on the option for a score and ONU led 31-3 with 3:33 left in the half.

With 1:51 left before intermission, Angle threw his third TD pass of the day, this one a 22-yarder to junior Justin McCray, to put ONU ahead 38-3.

Magazine capped an 11-play, 62-yard TD drive to start the second half when he scored on a 6-yard run to mae it 45-3 with 10:20 left in the third quarter.

Sophomore Connor Devine scored on a 5-yard run with 5:23 left in the third period to put ONU up 52-3.

The Quakers scored on a 12-yard pass from Austin Jarbo to Zach Cooper with 2:17 left.

Ohio Northern out-gained Wilmington 448-266 in total offense.

The Polar Bears will wrap up their season and celebrate Senior Day next Saturday with a 1:30 pm contest against Otterbein at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
