To continue the positive partnership with Ohio Northern University and the village of Ada, ONU is conducting the second annual Ada Civic Engagement (ACE) Day on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The ACE initiative was introduced not only to provide an opportunity for ONU’s faculty, staff and first-year students to engage with the residents of Ada but also to contribute to the beautification of the village.
“It’s important for our students to understand that they are part of the greater Ada community in addition to being ONU students,” said Jennifer Lambdin, ONU’s director of student involvement and coordinator of the ACE event. “We want to establish a sense of partnership and responsibility in the community through this program. We want our students to understand that responsible citizenship and service to one’s community is critical. Service projects like this are mutually beneficial for all.”
The ONU student volunteer contributions can range from landscaping and planting trees to decorating and painting.
As an ACE site, the respective business or residential locations are responsible for providing all materials, tools and directions for how the project is to be carried out as well as supervision. Students will begin work at 10 a.m. and continue until approximately noon.
