Council sets the opening date for Saturday, May 23

Get your suit ready. Opening day for the Ada swimming pool is about 75 days away.

Ada council approved several pieces of the Ada pool operations for 2020 at its March 3 meeting.

These includes pool rates, hours of operation, season pass rates and hourly wages for employees.

Yet to be determined is programming involving the Ada swim team, Aqua Zumba charge, use by the Ada Public Library and use at the F & M Picnic.s

The pool will open for the season on Saturday, May 23, and will remain open through Saturday, Aug. 22.

A chart at the bottom of this story shows the hours, season pass rates and the employee pay scale.

 The Ohio Athletic Conference announced its 2019-20 All-OAC honorees Wednesday. A couple Polar Bears made the list.

Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named Freshman of the Year after averaging 5.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, a team-high 2.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. She scored double figures in five games, which included a career-high 15 points in the OAC Tournament semifinals. 

Senior Emily Mescher (Maria Stein/Marion Local) earned first-team All-OAC recognition. She poured in a team-best 11.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. 

Krystina Lanuto is the new director of the Vancrest of Ada Rehab Department. The announcement was made in the March Vancrest newsletter.

She holds a bachelor's degree in health science with a concentration in human development. She also holds a mastrer's degree in occupational therapy.

Originally from New York, she and her husband, Matt, are parents of three young children

Here's the March schedule for the Ada Senior Citizens.

• Wednesday, March 11, at 12:30 p.m. at the Ada Community Health Professionals Community Room.  A short business meeting will be conducted by President Chloe Cole.  Then we will play euchre and/or board games.  Light refreshments will be provided by Lila Bass and Gloria Kline.  You are encouraged to join our group for an annual membership donation of $10 payable at this meeting.  

Eli Esguerra, Langston McClain and Marley Bulerin are all state-bound for OAC Grade School Wrestling Tourney and are members of the Ada Youth Wrestling Club.

Eli wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Thomas Worthington and took second place in the Division 4 110-pound bracket.

Langston wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Troy and finished in fourth place in the Division 3 65-pound bracket.

Marley wrestled at the OAC Grade School District Championship in Troy and she placed fourth in the Division 4 110-pound bracket.
