Ohio Northern University's off-campus COSI offers an encouraging word to all students and passers-by. "We love our students. Take good care!" Meanwhile, off to the side, is a village sign stating "Don't let the light go out," another encouraging thought.
Hardin County OSU Extension closed its office Tuesday, March 17. In alignment with all OSU offices, we have postponed all face-to-face programming through April 30 in response to the recent social distancing directives.
Until further notice, all OSU Extension staff are working remotely and are available from 8am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday to receive phone calls and emails.
"While our offices will be physically closed, we are committed to continuing to conduct our work as fully as possible. We are offering online video-based trainings for some of our scheduled programs during this time," said Mark Badertscher.
By Barbara Lockard Ada first-grade teacher Melissa Gossard will be inducted into the 2020 class of the Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame this spring. A 1991 Hardin Northern graduate, Gossard was an All-Ohioan in volleyball and basketball. As volleyball coach at Ada High School, she had the distinction of being the “winningest coach in school history.” We asked Melissa to share some of her insights on kids and sports.
Although there are young children who show a lot of talent in a particular sport, Melissa Gossard feels that there should be an emphasis on some other qualities.

Corn or soybeans were planted: Yes, there were some acres of corn planted last year in NW Ohio. Storage of low test weight and higher moisture corn is creating mold and damaged grain.
Because of the quickly evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, OhioHealth is implementing a no visitor policy effective Friday, March 20, at 7 a.m.
This applies to Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton.
We will make limited exceptions for:
End-of-life patients
Patients with disabilities who need assistance
Patients under 18 - both parents will be allowed to visit their child
Maternity patients can have one support person for the duration of their stay
There will be no time limits on approved visitors
Ada student grade cards for the third quarter are now available on the school website ProgressBook for grades 2-12. K-1 were mailed home earlier this week, according to Meri Skilliter, superintendent.
