Ada's latest news

Hey, kids! What time is it? It's virtual storytime at the library

The Ada Public Library may have its doors closed, but you can still attend the children's storytime – make that virtual storytime.

The Icon helps you tune into a great story from Natalie Walton, director of youth sevice, by clicking here.

The Icon will nominate her for an Oscar for the performance. See for youself.

With temperatures in the mid-60s, Thursday was a great day to take a walk in Ada. Six feet apart - not counting to pooch - appears to be the way to go. This scene was on the ONU campus.

Because of the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, Hardin Memorial Hospital-Kenton (OhioHealth) launched a temperature screening process Monday, March 23, at 5 p.m.

Screening stations will be put in place at all entrances.

All OhioHealth associates, care providers, patients and those visitors (who fall under exceptions, i.e., end of life situations) coming into an OhioHealth care site will be required to have their temperature taken as part of the COVID-19 screening process.

Associates, care providers and visitors will not be allowed to enter the building if their temperature is above 100 degrees.

To connect people in Hardin County with resources that they may need

A number has been established to connect people in Hardin County with resources that they may need during the COVID-19 Emergency.

Residents of the county that are in need of non-emergency medical supplies, essential supplies, food or who are looking for mental, emotional or spiritual support may contact the Hardin County Cares hotline at 419-675-9045 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This service is designed to connect people to resources that they are not able to access on their own.  The hotline will be staffed by representatives with local information and resources to help residents access the assistance that they need.

Note from Ada schools:
Meals will be distributed on Monday and Wednesday of next week.  Two meals on Monday and three on Wednesday. Same schedule.

Leland Crouse hopes to display findings at this year's F&M Picnic

Ada’s involvement in World War II is a project underway this spring by Leland Crouse, Ada historian. And, he is looking for contributions from Icon viewers.

“I am doing research of Ada and World War II,” he told the Icon.

The project covers many things involving Ada during this period of the 20th century. Here’s some of the areas that Crouse’s research involves:

• What the community was asked to do
• War effort boards and committees formed during this period
• Rationing
• Who entered the armed forces and where did they serve
• Any other stories, memorabilia or information residents are will to share
