Ada Schools celebrated the retirement of two long-time employees this week. Chris Christopher, bus driver, and Mike Lenhart, buildings and grounds and transportation supervisor.  Senior Maggie Krause (Chagrin Falls/Kenston) and sophomores Andrew Buderer (Oak Harbor) and Nate Dean (Euclid/Villa Angela Saint Joseph) have been named All-America in Indoor Track & Field for 2020 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Normally, the top eight finishers in each event earn All-America honors by the NCAA.

As this year's NCAA III Indoor Track & Field Championships were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the USTFCCCA is giving its own All-America honors to all athletes that had initially qualified for the championships as announced by the NCAA on Sunday, March 8.

Kenton Hardin Health Department is reporting a new positive case of COVID-19. We have had a case move jurisdictions after further investigation so it still will be our 31st case in the county.

Ohio Northern University students, organizations honored

Several Ohio Northern University students have been recognized for their leadership on campus.

The DeBow Freed Award for Outstanding Student Leadership as an Undergraduate Student is presented annually to one male and one female student from each undergraduate class. The award recognizes recipients for their positive leadership in the campus community.

The first awards were presented in 1999 and are named in honor of the former president and president emeritus of the university, who dedicated his life to the virtue of servant leadership.

Senior Seth Transue (Plain City/Jerome), junior Cash Thompson (Lake Odessa, Mich./Lakewood) and freshman Chase Sumner (Ada) have been named All-America in Wrestling for 2020 by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.

Sumner was a late addition to the NCAA Championships after finishing fourth at the 149-pound weight class at the Central Regional Championships.

He received a bid just a few days prior to the championships after a Central Regional qualifier from his 149-pound weight class became injured and could not compete.

Curbside pickup in effect this spring

The Ada Food Pantry continues to serve the hungry in the Ada community.

The Ada Food Pantry support persons in the community and remains available for curbside pickup and will continue in this mode until further notice. Clients should remain in their cars for check-in and their food packages will be brought out.

Christopher Bowers also shared the following information about the pantry:

"All donations to the pantry are welcome. Donations can be brought to the pantry during open hours, but we’d like donors to also please remain in their vehicles until we can get to you.
