John Berg introduced Sandy and Ron Crosser who spoke about a water project that they have undertaken in various parts of the world.
They discussed their recent trip to Kenya where they are trying to get the people to employ water filtration devices that are made from 5 gallon buckets and cost about $80 each but they provide clean water for 50 years for a family.
Some people walk up to 4 miles each way to get water. Then they have to boil it. Keep in mind that 5 gallons of water weights 42 lbs and the people often carry 2 containers.
They are going to supply 83 water purification systems for a total cost of about $7,300.
The Ada Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at noon at McIntosh Center, ONU. Guests are always welcome.
