Buy Local First Hardin County Spring Scavenger Hunt
The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance is partnering with 29 local businesses and sponsors to kick off a Buy Local First Hardin County Spring Scavenger Hunt. The Scavenger Hunt will run from May 25 to June 3. 

 The prizes include: an Ipad II; 2 prizes of 2 tickets to the outdoor drama Tecumseh; 4 prizes of a V.I.P. Car Pass to African Safari Wildlife Park; $100 Chamber Gold gift certificate; $50 Chamber Gold gift certificate; two tickets to Sauder Village; and 4 prizes of a $10 Gift Certificate for the Freed Center for the Performing Arts at ONU.

County Insight
An update from Sheriff Keith Everhart and Pastor Jason Manns and their ongoing efforts against drugs in Hardin County will be presented.

Other Community Leaders and business people will discuss what's happening in Hardin County on May 30 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Kenton Elks.

Summer Youth Employment Program
Looking for employers and students to participate in the TANF Summer Youth Employment Program.

This grant program pays Hardin County students 14-24 to gain work experience in local businesses. Eligibility is determined by JFS. Payroll and worker’s compensation are handled through Mercer County ESC.

Students will work June through August, 20-25 hours per week, at a schedule set by the participating business. A business’s involvement is to mentor students in general and specific work skills to increase the caliber of our upcoming workforce.

Buggy Ride
The Buggy Ride will be held on May 18.

The 100 (60 miles) kilometer ride gets underway from McCullough Industries at 8am while the Family Fun Ride (5 miles), 25 kilometer (15 miles) & 50 kilometer (30 miles) rides start at 8:30 a.m. All Riders must be on the road by 9 a.m.

Registration is $20 for each rider. 12 years and younger are FREE when riding with a paying adult (18 years and older).

Quarry Dash
Quarry Dash will take place on May 18.

Do you have what it takes to ring the bell?? The course is just over 3.5 miles and 2 of those miles will be run on the island which consists of extreme hills and water hazards, however, the water can be avoided.

This course will test your strength and endurance. Entry Fee is $25 + $10 for a T-Shirt. Participants must have a completed consent waiver before race. First wave of runners released at noon. Most of the course will be visible to spectators so bring family and friends! This race is a fundraiser to make improvements at the park.

BKP Ambulance District Open House
BKP would like to invite everyone out to meet the staff, see some of the services provided by BKP and celebrate EMS Week with us.

The Open House will take place on May 19 from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. Refreshments will be provided: hot dogs, chips and cake.

Run for Recovery 5K Run/Walk & Kids Dash
The Run for Recover 5K Run/Walk & Kids Dash is presented by the Hardin Community School, Ohio's first recovery school. Proceeds from the race will sponsor projects and activities for students.

Start: Hardin Community School/Lifeworks Center, 400 Decatur Street, Kenton.

Course: The 3.1 mile course begins and ends at Hardin Community School and is routed through the city of Kenton.

Kids Dash: For all youth age 13 and under. Kids' Dash will be a down and back course on Decatur St. All participants will receive a finisher's prize. Run Divisions: 14/Under, 15-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ Up.

Post Race Party: Enjoy an assortment of refreshments, as well as the awards ceremony with live entertainment. Tours of the Hardin Community School will also be available to the public following the race.Race Day Registration:

Fee $25 on May 25 from 7am to 8:30am inside the Hardin Community School. Race-day registration is payable by cash or check only, and shirts are available first-come, first-serve.

Classes offered at Wolf Creek Art Center
·May 23 7 p.m.-9 p.m. - Antiquing a Picture Frame: Antiquing a picture frame: Bring a wood frame, crackle glue, choice of acrylic paints, brushes, fine grit sand paper and a hair dryer. No Fee.
·May 30 and  June 6, 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. – Carved Plaster Wall Plaque: : bring a design idea, basic acrylic colors, brushes and clear acrylic varnish. A $2 fee for non members for the plaque. Call 419 673.8159 for more information.
·June 13 and  June 20, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. - Oil Painting-Raccoon Eating Watermelon-Fur painting techniques: Bring oil paints (basic colors), brushes etc and choice of surface. No fee.

Memorial Day Car Show & Petroliana
Registration begins at 10 a.m. on May 27 in Downtown Mount Victory.

No fee to show your car or admittance, food available, Antique & Classic Cars, Muscle Cars, Street Machines, Rods, Trucks & Motorcycles plus petroliana & auto collectibles.

Enjoy this multi-make car show which includes entries from early 1900's thru 1970's; William F. Britton VFW Post holds memorial service at 12 noon; and over 12 antique and craft shops open on Main & Taylor Streets as well as community yard sales.

Area Farmers’ Markets
·Kenton Farmers’ Market will continue on Saturdays from 9am-12noon through September. The Market will be in the same location as previous years on W. Columbus Street between Detroit Street and Market Street. There will be a minimal booth fee to cover the cost of advertising. Please contact Lynn Hoover at 419-674-4580 for more information.

·Forest Farmers’ Market will begin on May 11; new hours are 10am to 1pm in the Forest-Jackson Library Parking Lot. Also new this year, currently one vendor is accepting Senior Nutrition Program and WIC. In addition, one vendor will be accepting debit cards!

Wal-Mart Children’s Miracle Network Fundraiser
Now thru June 21 Wal-Mart will be running a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network. All money raised at the Kenton store will go to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

·         May 24 Bake sale until last item is sold or 2pm
·         May 27 Snow cones from 11am-3pm
