Several area events on Hardin County schedule this week

Here are events in Hardin County this month from the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser to benefit 20th Annual Gene Autry Days
Enjoy Spaghetti, Garlic Bread, Salad, Beverage and Dessert for $8 on April 28 from 12:30PM to 2:30PM at the First United Methodist Church, 234 N. Main St., Kenton. Tickets are pre-sale only. You can buy tickets at the Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance, 225 S. Detroit St., Kenton, Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-4:30PM.

Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at Lula’s Pack Rat
The Hardin County Chamber & Business Alliance will conduct a ribbon cutting ceremony at Lula’s Pack Rat, 9 North Detroit Street in Kenton, on April 19 at 11PM.  The ribbon cutting will be in conjunction with Lula’s Pack Rat’s Grand Opening. Lula’s Pack Rat is a variety store that offers a very large selection of new, used and old items, which includes; clothes, furniture and collectibles.  Business hours are Monday-Thursday from 9AM to 5PM, Friday 9AM to 7PM, and Saturday 9AM-4PM, closed Sunday. Lula’s Pack Rat is owned by Cathy Kemmere and her son Wayne. The Grand Opening will include refreshments, and great door prizes. Lula’s Grand Opening will run April 19 through April 20.

Earth Day 2013 Coloring Contest
Now thru April 21 you can pick up one of six coloring pages for Earth Day. Drop the picture off at the Service Desk at the Kenton Wal-mart by 5PM on the 21. There will be a winner for each age group: 2 thru 4 years, 5 thru 7 years, and 8 thru 20. Each winner will receive a $5 Wal-Mart Gift Card. Upcoming Programs at Mary Lou Johnson Library
On April 23 and 30 there will be an American Mahjong Class from 2:30PM-4:30PM for any adult interested. No need to bring anything except yourself.

Entrepreneurship Workshop: Women In Business
The Community Economic Development Center at Ohio Northern University presents Women In Business featuring Dr. Susan Schertzer, Assistant professor of marketing at ONU's James F. 2013 Wildcat Biddy Wrestling Camp
Biddy Wrestling Camp will take place April 23-26 in the High School Athletic Building Gym. 3rd Grade Pre-K, Kindergarten will have camp from 6PM to 7PM. First, Second and Fourth grades will have camp from 7PM-8PM. Cost is $15.00 per wrestler, including a shirt. Groundbreaking Ceremony for KCS Elementary
Groundbreaking for the Kenton City School Elementary will be held on April 27 at 9AM. An open house will take place in the Kenton High School cafeteria from 9AM-10AM. Introductions, speakers, and a brief ceremony will take place at 10AM. Busing to the site will be provided by the school at 10:45AM. Ground breaking will take place at 11AM. Attendees will return to the cafeteria for a Town Hall Q&A from 11:15AM-12NOON. For any questions contact the Board Office at 419.673.0775.

National Medication Take Back Day
On April 27 from 9AM to 12NOON, bring all of your unused, expired prescriptions as well as over-the-counter medications to one of the locations and law enforcement officers will dispose of these medications in a safe, legal and environmentally conscious manner.

Only medications from personal homes will be accepted. No medications from physicians, dentist or veterinary offices will be accepted. NO used syringes will be accepted. For more information contact Chris Davis at 419.675.8137.

E-Recycle at Hardin County Transfer Station
Load your items in the White Box Trailer marked “E-Recycling” located at the Hardin County Transfer Station, 45 Jones Rd, Kenton. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30AM to 4:15PM. They are also open the first Saturday of each month, 8:30AM to 11:50AM.
Items to be accepted are: Computers, any and all types of computer cable and wire, cameras, servers, VCR’s, camcorders, monitors, DVD players, keyboards, CD and DVD Media, Computer Mice, Battery back-up systems, scanners, cell phones, all stereo equipment, printers, faxes, copiers, video games, video game systems, all phone equipment, speakers, floppy disks and microwaves. If an item is NOT listed, do not bring it.

Upcoming @ ONU’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts
·         “Nine” - Based on Felini's film 8 1/2, this musical delighted Broadway theatre goers in a hit revival in 2003. Nine is the story of a celebrated Italian film director, Guido Contini, who has lost his creative inspriation under the looming deadline for his latest film. Contini attempts to court his muse through the company of beautiful women, all clamoring to be loved by him. Haunted by the shadows of his past, Contini is forced to contemplate the real substance of his life, which will become the material for his next film.  Tickets: General $15; Senior/Non-ONU Student $12; Child $9. ·         International Play Festival - This decade-old festival, dedicated to the promotion of new work from around the globe, will focus on the world premiere of an English translation of a Japanese Play.Tickets: General $15; Senior/Non-ONU $12; Child $9. April 25, 26 & 27 at 7:30PM and April 27 & 28 at 2PM.
·         Stage and film actor Anthony Zerbe works individually with 10 ONU theatre students each day for a week on a monologue of their choice. Using those five days of character exploration, Zerbe creates an adrenaline-fueled theatre showcase demonstrating exactly what 10 student actors can do in a 24-hour turnaround! May 4 at 7:30PM.
