Ada Kiwanis Club preparing for Saturday's pancake-sausage event

President Myrna McCurdy called the March 19th meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at noon in McIntosh Center, ONU.

The invocation was offered by Jon Umphress

The birthday of David Dellifield (March 17th) was noted. 
The membership anniversary of Bill Fuller (March 26, 2009) was also noted.
Member Ann Hamilton was congratulated on her new position within the university.

In business:
-Treasurer Bryan Marshall updated the membership on club finances.
-Secretary Brian Myers announced that satellite club meeting for this week has been cancelled. He is also working to update member information.
-Lt. Governor Linda Steinbrunner reported that our next Division 2 meeting is slated to be held at Delphos on June 5 at 6:30 p.m. She also will be visiting the satellite club April 10th, 6:00 p.m. at Community Health Professionals.
-New member and Director of the Ada Library, Amanda Bennett, made an announcement that the Library will be extending their hours starting Monday, May. They will be Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. She also made a request of the club to support the summer reading program.
-ONU Circle K advisor Bill Fuller reported they made and delivered 14-tie blankets for the Hardin Community Hospital. Elections are coming up soon. They are working on a fundraiser for Project Eliminate and they are doing trash pickups in the community. They will also assist at Pancake Day.
-Kiwanis Education Minute:  From our International President Tom DeJulio, “ Another way that Kiwanians display the forth Object is by educating themselves about the needs in their local and global communities” Remember the fourth Object is “We are called upon to make a commitment to develop, by precept and example, a “more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship.”

Something to consider:
From “Live and Learn and Pass It On”; from someone who is 51, “I’ve learned that you can inherit wealth but never wisdom.” And from someone age 15, “I’ve learned that the little sayings you learn as a child, such as the Golden Rule, are actually important.”

Members spent the remaining meeting time reviewing last minute details for this Saturday’s 61st annual Pancake and Sausage Day.

The Ada Kiwanis Club meets each Tuesday at noon in McIntosh Center, ONU. Guests are always welcome.
