ONU to hold panel discussion on human trafficking
Ohio Northern University will present a panel discussion on “Human Trafficking: The Invisible Problem” in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, March 12, at 11 a.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
The panel will discuss the issue of human trafficking, exploring the criminal aspects of the trade in human beings and the impact of trafficking on victims.
The panel also will look to raise awareness of the issue of human trafficking on campus and in the community, and to begin suggesting ways that everyone can help combat trafficking.
Prior to the panel discussion, two ONU criminal justice majors, James Lee, a freshman from Frankfort, Ohio, and Jordan Turner, a sophomore from Casstown, Ohio, along with Kelly MacDonald, who is doing post-graduate work at ONU while studying middle childhood education, will be giving short presentations of their class projects on human trafficking.
The panel will be comprised of Ronald DeLong, lecturer in ONU’s psychology and sociology department, Keith Durkin, professor of psychology and sociology, and a representative from the Northwest Ohio Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition. Reverend David MacDonald, ONU chaplain, will serve as moderator.
