See Saturn near its brightest (if weather cooperates)

Friday, Sept 13, 8:30-10:30 p.m.. ONU Observatory, 800 W Lincoln Ave. Check for cancellation after 2:00 p.m. HERE.

Weather permitting, the ONU Observatory will be open to the public on Friday, Sept 13, from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, Sept 8, Saturn will be at opposition.

``Opposition" is the planetary configuration in which the planet appears in the opposite direction as the Sun from the Earth's perspective. It is also the time of closest approach to the Earth, making Saturn look bigger and brighter than usual.

ONU English grads get a blast from the past

Ohio Northern University’s English professors generally frown upon the overuse of idioms like “a blast from the past” or “out of the blue.”

Thankfully, they made an exception this summer.

Because if not “a blast from the past,” how else would 212 unsuspecting English alumni describe the experience of receiving “out of the blue” their senior capstone paper in the mail from their alma mater decades after graduating?

Ada Bulldog volleyball loss to Panthers

McCOMB __ The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to McComb in a Blanchard Valley Conference match Wednesday evening, September 11.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the BVC this season after the 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 road defeat. 

McComb improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the BVC with the sweep.

Junior Anna Conley led Ada with seven kills.

Senior libero Jenna Bassitt led the Bulldogs with 21 digs. Senior Tess Griffith hit four kills and came up with nine digs. She also served one ace.

Sophomore setter Jaylin St. Laurent doled out 18 assists and hustled up 12 digs.

In 1969, Pink Floyd released The Nile Song on the album More. You may not have heard the song because it was not released in the United States. Pink Floyd was an English rock band that was a leader in the progressive rock genre.It is probably better known for The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall

The Nile Song has lyrics about being dragged down by the lady on the Nile. A West Nile infection can drag you down! 

Ada's Aidra Preston is crowned Hardin County Fair Queen

Ada Bulldogs girls soccer shut out at Delphos St. John’s

DELPHOS __The visiting Ada High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 nailbiter to non-league foe Delphos St. John’s Monday evening, September 9.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-2 with the defeat.  

DSJ, which competes in the Western Ohio Soccer League, improved to 4-3 after the victory.

The Blue Jay goal came off a scramble in front of the net that the Bulldogs were unable to clear out in time. 

“Sometimes teams just have a bad night,” said Ada head coach Doug Dewese. “Delphos has an experienced team, and we knew going in scoring was going to be hard.
