Ada High School’s Taylor Willeke was named the girls' basketball JJHuddle Player of the Week for Week 9 in Ohio and was presented a trophy by the Ohio National Guard on Wednesday, Feb. 6.
One week earlier Willeke joined the Ada HS girls 1,000-point club. She managed that feat in a 22-point effort against Waynesfield. She is only the seventh Ada girls’ basketball player to score over 1,000 points in a career. Ada won the game 57-56.
Ada sports fans will see lots more of Willeke. She says that she plans to attend Ohio Northern University and play basketball and study pharmacy.
The Ohio Northern women's indoor track & field team is ranked No. 18 in the fourth weekly USTFCCCA computer rankings.
The Polar Bears received 40.62 points.
Wisconsin-Oshkosh claimed the top spot with 177.09 points, Wartburg (Iowa) is second with 162.09 points and Illinois Wesleyan is third with 88.01 points.
Northern has a record of 22-7 on the season and finished 7th of 18 teams at the All-Ohio Championships on Saturday.

The Community Economic Development Center (CEDC) at Ohio Northern University continues its entrepreneurship workshop series in the Dicke Forum on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
The workshop will be preceded by a networking event at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will follow the networking event and conclude at 7 p.m.
The topic of the workshop will be “Pricing Your Product” with Daniel Fox. This event is free and open to the public.
Fox is a licensed practicing attorney and a certified public accountant. He currently serves as an assistant professor of law and chair of the marketing/hospitality management department at the Dauch College of Business and Economics.
The Ohio Northern women's basketball team moved up to a season high ranking of No. 4 in this week's D3hoops.com poll and USA Today Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches poll.
The Polar Bears received 522 votes in the D3hoops.com poll, which was 25 more than they received in last weeks poll.
DePauw (Ind.) stayed at the top of the poll with 623 points and 23 of the 25 first place votes, Calvin (Mich) is ranked second with 603 points and the two remaining first place votes and Hope (Mich.) is third with 563 points.
Heidelberg upset No. 17 Ohio Northern 21-11 in an Ohio Athletic Conference wrestling dual meet Tuesday night at Sieberling Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears fall to 15-3 overall and are OAC tri-champions with a 4-1 league mark.
The Student Princes improve to 11-8 overall and 4-1 in OAC action. Mount Union also shared the league title with a 4-1 record.
Defending national champion, three-time All-American and top-ranked senior Kyle Kwiat posted his NCAA-leading 20th tech fall at 174 pounds to lead ONU.
He won 18-0 in 4:19 to improve to 34-3 on the season.
