Summer is here and so is the time for Red Cross Swimming Lessons, according to Sandra Neely, Red Cross water safety instructor.

As in past years the Ada Learn To Swim Program is in need of aides to assist with the lessons.

Ages 12 and up, including adults are encouraged to sign up to help others learn swimming skills.  As little as an hour each day of lessons is helpful. Lessons begin the week of July 11 for two weeks and continue Monday through Friday each week.

The Ada Municipal Pool is now open for the season.

The early bird pricing for pool passes ends Monday, June 13. Through the end of the day on Monday, passes are $45 per person. If you are an Ada resident or taxpayer, you may be eligible for a $10 discount, subject to verification. That makes your pool pass only $35.

After Monday, passes are $55 per person. The $10 discount for Ada residents and/or taxpayers still applies, so passes for those individuals will be $45 per person.

Passes are only being sold at the village office this season, and hours are 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Guests to the pool will need to pay daily admission rates until a pass has been issued.

Vacation Bible School began Monday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 125 S. Johnson St. and continues through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon. Here, Liam Vieira makes a fuzzy sheep. "Barnyard Roundup: Jesus Gathers Us Together" is this year's theme. (Monty Siekerman photo)

Help is needed on deck for paperwork as well as in the water.  You do not need to be a good swimmer to help others...we'll help you as well:)
