Beaverdam-Richland Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department hosts its annual summerfest Saturday, Aug. 13.

Events begin at 4 p.m. and go into the evening. Summerfest had homemade food and ice cream, kids bouncy rides plus a game trailer.

The band, Exploit, performs at 7 p.m.

At 9 p.m. will be drawings for several prizes

• First prize  - 24-inch show thrower
• Second prize – Kids’ battery vehicle
• Third prize – Rodabaugh Brothers meat certificate
• Fourth prize – Wooden bench swing
• Fifth prize – Fire ring
• Sixth prize – FitBit
• Seventh prize – Home safety kit

If you’r hear drum cadences, the Ada school fight song, or the music from Toy Story, it’ is the Ada High School Marching Band and Color Guard preparing for the 2016 fall football and competition season. 

Ada Band and Color Guard members are deep into marching band camp at the school. The camp started July 18 and continues until Friday, July 29.

A special preview performance will be held at the conclusion of camp at 7 p.m. Friday, July 29, in the Auxiliary gym. 

The Alger Memorial Festival Committee will hold a country-style breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday,  Aug. 6, at the Alger Social Center, 210 N. Main St., Alger.

The menu includes biscuits, sausage gravy, hash browns, scrambled eggs, fried apples, sausage patties and a beverage.

A suggested donation is $7. The breakfast is all-you-can-eat (premises only). Carry out is available. Call 419-679-8460 for free local delivery.
