Ada Police Department’s canine unit assisted the Hardin County Crime Task Force in a narcotics investigation on July 29, according to Keith Everhart, Hardin County Sheriff.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., on July 29, the department initiated a traffic stop on County Road 144 near County Road 195 east of Kenton.

As a result, 125 individual hits of heroin were confiscated along with other drug paraphernalia.

Two adult females were arrested on numerous charges including possession, trafficking and tampering with evidence.

Robert Weyer, 25, died on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at 3:30 a.m.

He was born on May 25, 1991, in Bluffton, Ohio, to Robert B. Weyer and Rachelle (Hoff) Benfield. His father survives in Ada and his mother and  step-father, William Benfield, also survive in Ada.

Robert worked at the Lowe’s Distribution Center, Findlay. He was a 2010 graduate of Ada High School.

It's August and preparations are underway for the 2016-17 school year. Ada schools provided the following details to students and parents about the coming school year:

School open house
The annual open house Thursday, Aug. 11, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The first day of school for students is Tuesday, Aug.16,  with a full day planned for grades 1-12. 

School will begin each day at 8:35 a.m. for all students. Kindergarten orientation is Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 16 and 17.  Kindergarten students will begin school on a staggered start schedule beginning  Thursday, Aug. 18.

Alger Assembly of God will be WTGN Church of the Week on Sunday, Aug 7.

The radio station will broadcast the 10:30 a.m. service live on 97.7 FM in Lima, 98.7 FM in Findlay, and 105.1 FM in Kenton.

Pastor Mark Andreasen will be on the prayer time devotionals from 9:05 until 9:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, Aug. 8-12.

Looks like Ada’s August and September are months full of lots of activities.
