Ada's future scientists probe questions - seek answers

20 STUDENT PHOTOS IN THIS FEATURE!

• Are more people left or right dominate?
• Are fingerprints hereditary?
• What is the quickest way to cool a soda?
• How fast can a solar powered car go?

Ada eighth grade science students probed these and other questions this year and presented their findings at the Jan. 24 sciene fair at Ada school. Following an afternoon of judging this year's exhibits went on public display.

According to Bill Faine, Ada junior high science teacher, between 68 and 72 projects were judged. Superiors advance to the district science fair at Ohio Northern University in March.

"It is mandatory for eighth grade students to participate, but the science fair is ope to any Ada High School student," he said.

Faine told The Icon that judging was based on a scores achieved by students on the following criteria:

• Knowledge achieved
• Effecive use of scientific method
• Clarity of expression
• Originality and creativity

A possible 40 points could be earned by each student in the judging.

The winners will be announced soon - check the Icon for that list. In the meantime, here's a sampling of students with their projects.
