One More gym at 125 E Buckeye Ave. has received the donation of an AED (automated external defibrillator) from Lima Memorial Health System.

The device expands access in the village to lifesaving equipment for use in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. It is in a hallway with 24-hour access, so it can be used at any time, note gym owners Nick and Amber Simon.

April 27 Media Release__St. Mark Lutheran Church, located at the corner of Lincoln and Johnson Streets in Ada, will be having their free Community Meal on Wednesday, April 30, from 5 to 6:30 (or until we run out). Free and open to the public.

This month's menu consist of Meat loaf sub, Baked beans, Chips, Fruit, and a Cookie. In the event that we run out the meal will be "Chef's Choice." 

To help us better serve you, please call 419-792-0911 by noon on Tuesday if you require more than 8 meals.

As always you may dine in, carry out, or drive up for curbside service.

Alger photographer Raquel Massie shared this impressive bald eagle sighted on April 5 from the shelter house at Bluffton Village Park. "I love going through there every chance I can," she notes. An Ohio DNR map shows 12 eagle's nests in Allen County and 13 in Hardin County.

  • Justice Benedikt Bogason will be featured at the Pettit College of Law ceremony scheduled for Saturday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m.
     
  • Dr. Ada D. Stewart, BSPh ’85, will participate in the Raabe College of Pharmacy ceremony to be held on Sunday, May 18 at 9:00 a.m.
     
  • Brenda Reichelderfer, BSEE ’80, will address undergraduate/MSA ceremony guests and graduates on May 18 at 2:00 p.m.

The ceremonies will be held at King Horn Sports Center’s field house. All three commencement speakers will receive honorary doctoral degrees.

Rebecca Fay Nutt, age 62, of Ada, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Kindred Hospital, Lima, surrounded by her family. 

She was born on April 10, 1963 in Salyersville, Kentucky to Eugene Nickles and Lonie (Barnett) Nickles Jones.  Her father Eugene preceded her in death and her mother Lonie Jones survives in Whitley City, Kentucky.  Rebecca married Stevie Nutt and he preceded her in death.

There has been concern about measles cases in various parts of the country and a significant uptick worldwide. In the last few weeks, a total of 607 confirmed measles cases were reported by 22 states, including 11 cases in Ohio. Of the 607 confirmed US cases, 74 have been hospitalized, and three have died. According to the CDC, 2025 is already the third-most active year for measles since 2000.
