Ada visits solid non-league foe McComb (5-4) Saturday

ADA - Visiting Delphos Jefferson raced to a 20-2 lead at Ada and cruised to a 54-26 win in Northwest Conference girls basketball action Thursday evening.

Sophomore guard Aly Lindeman scored eight points to help DJ gain a 15-2 lead in the opening four minutes. 

A three-pointer by senior Addy Stewart was followed by a Delaney Deuel fast break layin off a nice Stewart pass that built a commanding 20-2 Wildcat bulge with 2:11 left in the opening stanza.

The closest the Lady Bulldogs got after the early onslaught was 36-22 on a right wing trifecta by Courtney Sumner with just over five minutes left in the third quarter.

Jan. 14 at Bluffton University

Ronda K. Lehman, president, Mercy Health Lima, will share “My Leadership Journey in Health Care,” during Bluffton University’s Presidential Leadership Forum at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Yoder Recital Hall.

Lehman will reflect on experiences and challenges in the health care marketplace.

Named president of Mercy Health’s Lima Market in September, Lehman has served the Lima community as a member of Mercy Health since 1995, when she began as a pharmacy intern. 

Prior to her current role she served as president of Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. In 2014, Lehman obtained her fellow status with the American College of Health Care Executives.

A couple area students were named to the dean's list for fall semester 2019-20 at Rhodes State College, Lima.

To be eligible for this dean’s list, a full-time student must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and earn a 3.5 grade point average or higher.

Expanding ways to serve small businesses in 4-county area

In 2020, the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) will be awarding prizes, holding free brown bag discussions, and expanding the ways it serves small businesses in the four counties surrounding the Village of Bluffton.

The Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition, which begins on Wednesday, January 15, will award $7500 in prizes to new businesses and improving 45817 businesses. Spaces are limited and the Emerging Business division has just three seats left.

Conditional use permit meeting is Jan. 21

Ada's board of zoning appeals will hear a request for a conditional use permit for two purposes at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to Michael Harnishfeger, village zoning inspector. The meeting is in the Ada depot.

The request includes: 
• Indoor/outdoor cultivation and harvesting of industrial hemp.
• Industrial hemp processing.

Construction plans include a 35-by-96-foot greenhouse. It is to be used for indoor cultivation and outdoor cultivation of up to one-half acre and construction of a 1,600-square-foot  processing facility.

The request involves a proposed project in the Grass Run Industrial Park.
