Ada Community Improvement Corp. wants you!

Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) is “a corporation for the sole purpose of advancing, encouraging, and promoting industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of our Ada Community and Area.”

If this sound like the type of organization you might be interested in participating in, the CIC invites your membership.

Ada CIC meets on the third Wednesday of each month at noon, and the meetings are open to the public. The meetings often consist of a designated program or guest, as well as member update reports from those who are present. These meetings serve as an ideal place to hear the positive developments going on throughout our community.

Hardin Jumbo Junior Farmers 4-H Club organizes for the year

The Jumbo Jr. Farmers met at 7 p.m. on April 14, at the McDonald Township Hall.  There were 12 members in attendance and 10 guests present.

The 4-H pledge was led by Isaac Smith and the Pledge of Allegiance by Drew Hoppe.  The role of members was taken by the members answering their favorite activity to do in the summer. 

The committee reports included a treasurer and secretary reports. The members shared specific goals they
had for this years projects.  The upcoming meeting calendar was shared for meetings to be held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00. The advisors shared upcoming events including Quality Assurance training on May 28. 

Hardin County sports hall induction May 10

The 4th annual Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony is Saturday, May 10, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Upper Scioto Valley High School.

Tickets are $20 adults and $10 students. Ticket entry required, only 350 tickets available.

Entry includes buffet dinner, commemorative program, access to Sports memorabilia silent auction with 100 percent of proceeds going to Hall of Fame scholarships.

Hospice-Beacon of Hope auction May 6

Hospice-Beacon of Hope takes place Tuesday, May 6, 6 pm. – 8 p.m. at McIntosh Center, ONU 525 S. Main St. Ada. Sponsored by Community Health Professionals.

Ada Farmers' Market opens for the season on May 1

Ada Farmers' Market will kick off its season on Thursday, May 1. It will run from May 1 – Sept.  25, every Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., Ada, SFMNP coupons accepted. For more information contact Deb Curlis 419-634-7443.

Margaret June Cole, 1920-2014

Margaret June (Matheny) Cole, 93, died on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 1:04 a.m. at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.

She was born on October 9, 1920 in Monongalia County, W.Va. to Charles and Sarah (Phillips) Matheny and they preceded her in death. On April 16, 1938 she married James Cole and he survives in Ada.

Margaret worked at Westinghouse Corp. of Lima. She helped her husband with Cole's Service Station in Alger. They lived in South Carolina for 22 years, where they owned and managed rental property.

She was active in church service in various ways; as treasurer, Sunday School teacher,  and in Women's Missionary Group.
