The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts presents Alice Tan Ridley in concert with the ONU Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 8:30 p.m. The ONU Symphony will be under the direction of Lloyd Butler.
Ridley, who began her career singing in the New York subways, gained acclaim through her YouTube videos and was nicknamed the “New York City Subway Idol.” In 2002, she won the Fox talent show “30 Seconds to Fame” with her soulful rendition of “Midnight Train to Georgia.”
Ridley, who has been described as a master interpreter of lyrics with an emotional depth and charisma, gained national acclaim with her performances on “America’s Got Talent.” In September 2011, she received a spontaneous standing ovation from presenters during her appearance at the Performing Arts Exchange juried showcase.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $7 for children and ONU students.
