The Alumni Factor has named Ohio Northern University as one of the top 177 top schools in the nation. ONU ranked 154th overall and 18th in the Midwest region.
“This latest recognition shows not only that students who graduate from ONU receive an excellent education that prepares them for the future, but also that they enjoy the ONU experience and all the University has to offer,” said Daniel A. DiBiasio, ONU president.
In its overview of ONU, the Alumni Factor wrote that ONU “enrolls an above-average caliber student who has a specific career track in mind and gives them practical training in lucrative and growing fields.” ONU scored high marks in such categories as “college experience,” “immediate job opportunities,” “happiness and friendship,” and “alumni loyalty.”
Researchers from the Alumni Factor talked with tens of thousands of graduates, ages 24 and older, of more than 450 U.S. colleges and universities. The overall rankings are based on 15 attributes for each college; each is equally weighted. Data for 13 of the 15 attributes came from actual graduates. Only two of the 15 attributes – the graduation rate and the alumni-giving percentage – are gained from a source other than graduates.
The surveyed graduates answered more than 30 questions about their college experience, their record of academic and extra-curricular achievement, their view of their college and its impact on their lives today, their household situation, their level of employment, their financial situation, their overall happiness, and their demographic details. Researchers compiled the graduate responses with the colleges’ graduation rate and alumni-giving percentage to determine the schools on the list.
