Ada Bulldogs boys soccer edged by Riverdale

MT. BLANCHARD – The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a high-quality 3-2 nailbiter on grass at North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Riverdale on Thursday evening, September 12.

The Bulldogs battled back to tie it up twice from one-goal deficits, but could never grab the lead in the intense contest.

Ada dropped to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in tough NCOSA action with the close defeat.

Riverdale evened its marks at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in NCOSA play after the hard-fought win.

Weather permitting, the ONU Observatory will be open to the public on Friday, Sept 13, from 8:30 - 10:30 p.m. On Sunday, Sept 8, Saturn will be at opposition.

``Opposition" is the planetary configuration in which the planet appears in the opposite direction as the Sun from the Earth's perspective. It is also the time of closest approach to the Earth, making Saturn look bigger and brighter than usual.

ONU English grads get a blast from the past

Ohio Northern University’s English professors generally frown upon the overuse of idioms like “a blast from the past” or “out of the blue.”

Thankfully, they made an exception this summer.

Because if not “a blast from the past,” how else would 212 unsuspecting English alumni describe the experience of receiving “out of the blue” their senior capstone paper in the mail from their alma mater decades after graduating?

Ada Bulldog volleyball loss to Panthers

McCOMB __ The visiting Ada High School volleyball team lost in straight sets to McComb in a Blanchard Valley Conference match Wednesday evening, September 11.

The Bulldogs dropped to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the BVC this season after the 25-15, 25-10, 25-20 road defeat. 

McComb improved to 5-4 overall and 1-2 in the BVC with the sweep.

Junior Anna Conley led Ada with seven kills.

Senior libero Jenna Bassitt led the Bulldogs with 21 digs. Senior Tess Griffith hit four kills and came up with nine digs. She also served one ace.

Sophomore setter Jaylin St. Laurent doled out 18 assists and hustled up 12 digs.

Ada's Aidra Preston is crowned Hardin County Fair Queen
