Ambulance Board meeting rescheduled for April 11

The ambulance board meeting has been rescheduled from April 18 to April 11, according to Nancy Kindle, Fiscal Officer for the Ada-Liberty Joint Ambulance District.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the EMS building, 530 N Gilbert St, Ada.

Reminder: Age My Way community survey

AAA3 is conducting a community needs assessment to help capture the service needs in Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Mercer, Putnam, and Van Wert Counties.

This information will assist in the development of Area Agency on Aging 3’s 2023-2026 Strategic Area Plan. Information gathered from this survey will assist in the planning and implementation of services, supports and resources in our local community.

U.S. 68 closure in Dunkirk delayed to March 24

UPDATE: The closure of U.S. 68 is delayed until Thursday, Mar. 24 due to weather forecast.

U.S. 68 will close  for approximately 3 days for railroad repairs.

Making a mountain of bottle caps

Ada Girl Scouts have been collecting, washing, boxing and shipping bottle caps in a fundraiser to benefit children with cancer. An enormous response from the Ada community and others nearby is reported HERE.

Overwhelming response in Ada and beyond

Girl Scout Troop #20127 found a program located in Mexico called Banco de Tapitas, where they recycle plastic caps. They make items to sell such as toys, containers, household goods, etc. The money they make is then used to pay for medicines, chemo treatments, wigs, etc for anyone 21 and younger with cancer. 

The troop first posted the project on Facebook noting that anyone who wanted to could save plastic bottle caps for the troop.

Next, Tiffanie Sumney asked if they could have a contest with Ada Elementary School K-5 classes, with the class collecting the most getting a pizza party.

Wilson employees, Bulldog football field in Magnolia Network program

The Magnolia Network program Extraordinary Stories Behind Everyday Things has produced a 12-minute episode spotlighting the work of employees at Ada’s Wilson football factory.

The “Football” episode is number 15 of season 3 and can be viewed on the Magnolia Network website.

The program provides a history of football design, followed by a visit to the Wilson football factory. Several Wilson employees describe and demonstrate how they make footballs by hand. The program also shows employees testing the finished product on the Ada High School football field.
