Photo-story: Ada girls best USV, fall to MC

The Ada High School girls softball team split a home twinbill vs. Upper Scioto Valley and Miller City on a chilly Saturday afternoon, April 2, at Ada War Memorial Park.

The Lady Bulldogs whipped the rival Rams 11-4 in the opener, but lost the nightcap 15-4 to MC to run their record to 1-2 this season.

"Against USV we kept it together and answered back," said new Lady Bulldog head coach Jeff Bassitt. "We shut them down the last four innings and Jenna settled down."

Ada jumped on top with two runs in the home first vs. USV. Jenna Bassitt and Aidra Preston opened the game with consecutive singles and came in to score.

Ada baseball splits two with Rams

The Ada High School baseball team split a doubleheader with arch-rival Upper Scioto Valley Saturday afternoon, April 2, at Ada War Memorial Park.

Ada held on to win the opener 3-2, but a big Ram rally early in the nightcap paved the way for a 16-2 win. The Bulldogs ran their record to 2-1 with the split. USV is now 2-2.

In the first game, Ada held onto a 2-1 lead for most of the game after scoring two runs in the second.

The Bulldogs tacked on a crucial run in the bottom of the sixth.

Photo-story: AHS seniors learn about medical emergency preparedness

Last week Ada High School seniors spent two class periods with Ada-Liberty EMS chief Tom Miller and Mercy Health EMS coordinator Brian Anderson learning about responding to medical emergencies. The sessions emphasized that as a friend, family member, teammate, coworker or bystander they may someday be in a position to save someone's life.

The students learned when to call 911, including if they suspect a heart attack or stroke. The instructors emphasized that minutes count in these instances and that some forms of treatment begin on location by EMS crews.

First ONU college building
