Junior Lindsey Rayhill wins three events to lead women's swimming & diving in dual meet with Wittenberg

Junior Lindsey Rayhill won three events to lead the Ohio Northern women's swimming & diving team in a 179-119 loss to Wittenberg Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears fall to 2-3 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 5-1.

Rayhill swept the butterfly events and won the 200 I.M. to lead ONU.

She won the 100 fly in :59.75, won the 200 fly in 2:10.66 and won the 200 I.M. in 2:16.73.
Senior Amy Elmer swept the diving events, winning the 1-meter with a score of 247.05 and the 3-meter with a score of 242.45.

Northern also had five second place finishes on the night.

Men's swimming & diving remains undefeated with 190-108 victory over Wittenberg

Senior Drew Keriazes and junior John Beaschler each won twice and the Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team remained undefeated with a 190-108 victory over Wittenberg Friday night at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Tigers fall to 4-2.

Keriazes swept the breaststroke events, winning the 100 breast in :58.91 and the 200 breast in 2:10.79.

Beaschler swept the sprint freestyle events, winning the 50 free in :22.16 and the 100 free in :48.39.

The Polar Bears won nine of the 16 events overall but used its advantage in depth to register the 82-point victory.

Women's basketball opens season with 67-48 victory over Lake Forest (Ill.)

Senior Joanna Snyder scored a career high 23 points as the Ohio Northern women's basketball team opened their 2012-13 season with a dominating 67-48 victory over Lake Forest (Ill.) at the McWillimas Classic hosted by Washington University (Mo.).

ONU now stands at 1-0 on the season, while the Foresters fall to 0-1.

Northern advances to the championship game, which will be played tomorrow at 7 pm CST against either No. 9 Washington Universtiy (Mo.) or Buena Vista (Ia.).

Snyder scored her 23 points on 10-of-19 shooting. She also grabbed four rebounds.
Senior Morgan Dumbaugh added 12 points and freshman Brooke Espenschied added 10 points.

Death notice of Maurice Murray, formerly of Ada

Maurice Murray from Kingston, Washington, formerly from Ada, died on Nov.10, 2012.  He is survived by his wife, Dolores, daughters, Shawn and Leesa, grandson Tyler, stepchildren Ralph and Mary Gorichanaz, sisters Jeanette (Max) Miller, and Marilyn (Howard) Shelly. Brothers Roger and Scott are both deceased.

Hardin County Museum kicks off Holidays with Dec. 2 open house

The Hardin County Historical Museum, Kenton, Ohio will kick off the holiday season on December 2 with a Christmas Open House. 

The Sullivan-Johnson House will be decorated from top to bottom using the theme “Old Fashioned Christmas”.  The event will feature the opening of the Civil War 150 exhibit.  Hardin County is home to two Medal of Honor recipients, Jacob Parrott and Delano Morey. 

Both men received their Medals for action during the Civil War.  In addition to the Medal display will be an exhibit on the Ohio 82nd.  The Museum will be open 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Admission is free.
