Drive Time starting next series of classes Jan. 13

Drive Time Driving Instruction, 4171 State Route 235, Ada, announced it's next series of classes.  The series starts on Sunday, Jan. 13., according to Sara Kisseberth of Drive Time. She added that the classes include:

  • 24 hours of required classroom instruction
  • Six sessions scheduled over a two-week period with your input
  • 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training
  • We'll pick you up and drop you off
  • No need to come to the office
  • Carefully chosen, highly qualified instructors

A banner season

Mark Shull and Charles Van Dyne join Ada Kiwanis 50-year club

Myrna McCurdy called the eleventh meeting (December 11th) of the 2012–2013 Kiwanis Year to order at 11:30 a.m. at the Ada Visiting Nurses Community Room, Ada.

The invocation was given by Jon Umphress.

Members and guests were welcomed.

Business:
Bryan Marshall reported on our Christmas benevolence project. Two Families were assisted with Christmas gift certificates.

The following long-time club members were presented Legion of Honor awards by Secretary Brian Myers: Bryan Marshall, 25 years; Mike Hood, 30 years; Bruce Neely, 35 years; Mark Shull and Charles Van Dyne, 50 years.

Silent auction coming to a close

Women's basketball ranked No. 17 in D3hoops.com poll; No. 22 in USA Today sports coaches poll

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team is ranked No. 17 in the third weekly D3hoops.com Women's Top 25 and No. 20 in the fourth USA Today Sports Division III Top 25 Coaches Poll.

ONU received 164 points in the D3hoops.com poll and 30 in the USA Today Sports poll.

In the D3hoops.com poll, the Polar Bears were ranked No. 24 in the first week and No. 20 last week.

DePauw (Ind.) got 24 out of 25 first place votes for the top spot, OAC foe Mount Union is second and Calvin (Mich.) is third.

In the USA Today Sports poll, Northern enter's the Top 25 for the first time this season.

ONU’s Center for Teacher Education earns national reaccreditation

The Ohio Northern University Center for Teacher Education received full reaccreditation for its undergraduate teacher training programs for seven years through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
                 
“The reaccreditation of our Center for Teacher Education by NCATE demonstrates our commitment to excellence in our teacher training programs and assures our current and future students that our education programs meet the highest state and national standards for academic excellence,” said Daniel A. DiBiasio, ONU president.
