ONU's athletic training program re-accredited by CAATE

 

The Ohio Northern University athletic training program has received the maximum continuing accreditation award of 10 years from the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

The ONU program has met all of the nationally recognized Standards for Accreditation of Professional Athletic Training Programs as set by the CAATE. The award resulted from a comprehensive evaluation of the ONU athletic training program, including a self-study and on-site visit in February 2013. ONU’s program was initially accredited in 1998.

September-October Ada Highlights calendar seeks events

The Ada Icon is currently working on the September-October Ada Highlights calendar of events, distributed by the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC).

Ada Friends - mentoring program between Ada school youth and ONU students - organizing for 2013-14

Imagine a program that matches Ada kindergarteners through eighth graders with a college student mentor.

Such a program exists.

Ada Friends, organized in 1991 through the Ohio Northern University Religious Life staff, last school year matched 74 Ada students with college mentors. Applications for this school year’s program are now being accepted, according to Jerrod Amstutz, an ONU senior, student coordinator. 

The ONU Religious Life Staff is under the dirction of David MacDonald, ONU chaplain.

28th annual Harvest and Herb Fest' closer than you think - here's the booth application form

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's 28th annual Ada Harvest and Herb Festival is closer than you think!

This year's festival is Saturday, Sept. 21, in downtown Ada. Booths registrations are begin accepted and details about this year's festival are now available.

Two attachments at the bottom of this story provide a copy of the booth application form and the booth regulations and requirements.

Butterfly migration celebration Sept. 8

The Allen County Master Gardener Association will be hosting The Butterfly Migration Celebration on Sunday, September 8, 2013 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at The Children’s Garden in Lima.

This unique event features the release of dozens of monarch butterflies; butterfly-themed children’s activities; an educational butterfly presentation and much more.

The Children’s Garden is currently funded exclusively by donations and is staffed by volunteers.  The Allen County Master Gardener Association relies on the support of the community to continue maintaining the garden and offering educational opportunities to the residents of the region.
