Rev. Allen, Ada Presbyterian pastor, Kiwanis Club speaker

President Myrna McCurdy called the weekly meeting of the Ada Kiwanis Club to order at 12:00 noon on Tuesday September 3rd at McIntosh Center, ONU.

Jon Umphress offered the invocation.

The following guests were introduced: Patrick Allen. Allie Puntel, Katie Lorson and Elizabeth McKinney.

The birthday of Marilyn Green (September 7th) was noted.
In business:

-Members heard an updated financial report from Treasurer Bryan Marshall.
-Secretary Brian Myers reported that the Distinguished Club paperwork has been filed.

Brauen's Gourds open house Sept. 7-8; hundreds of gourds available

Brauen's Gourds will hold a fall open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, and 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8.

The open house is at the rural residence of Don and Jody Brauen, 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. Hundreds of decorative gourds will be available for sale. The gourds are created in an assortment of themes from seasonal to sports teams.

Inspired by a friend who grew gourds, the Brauens began with a small patch 10 years ago. Since then that patch has grown to cover three acres, producing up to 8,000 gourds a year. Among the varieties customers traditionally see include kettles, martins, bushels, penguins, apples and canteens.

Richland Manor tailgate party Sept. 19

Richland Manor, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton, invites community members to its 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, tailgate party. The event is free and open to the public.

It will have tailgate food, live music and visits from area cheerleaders and mascots. Wally Jones and his band will entertain.

Bingo every Thursday in September

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada.  The first game this month is Thursday, September 5 and will be held on each Thursday thereafter.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; Bingo begins at 6:55 p.m.. Ada Bingo uses new, radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music Boosters.  Everyone is welcome.

Hardin County Farm Bureau partners with local FFAs to support livestock exhibitors

Hardin Co. Farm Bureau Partners with local FFA to support Livestock Exhibitors!

The Hardin County Farm Bureau has set a goal to give out over 500 t-shirts to the youth livestock exhibitors at the Hardin County Fair. 

The Hardin County Farm Bureau chose to start this t-shirt project because we recognized how important our 4-H & FFA projects were, when we were children.  They helped us develop responsibility, allowed us to gain self-confidence, leadership, and develop an understanding of where our food came from. 

Community Health Professionals offer continuing ed program Sept. 17 in Ada

Community Health Professionals will host a free continuing education program, “Improving Patient Adherence – Tools for Success,” for physicians, nurse practitioners and pharmacists on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 1159 Westwood Dr., Van Wert, and again on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 1200 S. Main St., Ada, 9-10 a.m. both dates.

This one-hour continuing education program is presented by Raabe College of Pharmacy, Ohio Northern University.

Natalie A. DiPietro, Pharm D. MPH will be the presenter. The Ada event will include a continental breakfast sponsored by Liberty National Bank of Ada.
