Bulldog golfers tee off season at 4-team match

The Ada High School boys golf team opened its 2023 season with a four-team Northwest Conference match at the Bluffton Golf Course Monday, August 7.

Bluffton finished first with 184 strokes, followed by Leipsic at 191. Spencerville totaled 193 shots, with Ada fourth at 229.

Ada’s Jack Baumgartner and Brody Rister each shot a 53 to pace the Bulldogs.

Ada’s Ethan Lawrence contributed a 60. Sam Crawford carded a 63 to round out the Ada scorers. 

Lawson Klingler added a round of 68.

Brevin Brandt of Leipsic was match medalist with a nine-hole score of 39.

Ada is back in action at the Bluffton course vs. the Pirates Thursday at 4:15 p.m.

Special Election Day, August 8

A proposed Ohio constitutional amendment shall be submitted to voters at a special election on August 8, 2023. Polls are open from 6:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. For more information, visit the Hardin County Board of Elections at https://www.boe.ohio.gov/hardin/

Water seems like it ought to be an equal opportunity resource. You turn on the tap and use as much as you need, right? Ohio water prices are among the lowest in the country, but they vary greatly from town to town. You may hear complaints about the high cost of water in Ada, but compared to what? And why does our water cost what it does?

Family Fishing in Findlay, August 17

FINDLAY— Get out in the parks and go fishing as a family. Learn about the basics of fishing by trying to catch some fish that live in Giertz Lake. All skill levels are welcome. A fishing pole will be provided or bring your own. Corn and hotdogs will be available for bait or bring your own lucky lure!

All participants who are 16 years of age or older will need a valid Ohio Fishing License.

Pie eating contest announced by Ada Historical Society

The Ada Historical Society is hosting a pie eating contest at the August 12 Farmers & Merchants picnic.

Organizers announce on Facebook: "We are hosting the contest to bring back a nostalgic & historical game to the picnic. There will be 5 contestants, with representatives from several local village departments, competing. The winner even, ironically enough, gets a FREE trial gym membership!

Healthcare opportunity also announced

Upper Scioto Valley School has announced its 2023-2024 program year policy free and reduced-price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals or milk served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast, After School Care Snack or Special Milk Programs.  Each school office and the central office has a copy of the policy, which may be reviewed by any interested party.
