Seminar on combating financial exploitation of seniors

Hardin County residents are encouraged to "Get involved. Stay safe. Combating financial exploitation!"

From 2:00-3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, the Hardin County Council on Aging, 100 Memorial Ave., Kenton, will host a program providing valuable information on:

  • What is financial explitation
  • Why older adults are targeted
  • Risk factors of financial exploitation
  • Abuse later in life
  • Forms of abuse
  • How forms of financial abuse occur
  • Scams
  • Who are the abusers
  • What you can do

The event is presented by the Ohio Coalition for Adult Protective Services and sponsored by HealthPath. The program is also promoted by the Area Agency on Aging.

New shop opens March 1: A&A Apparel & More

A&A Apparel & More has announced its grand opening on Friday, March 1 within Buckeye East Coffee Shop, 123 E Buckeye Ave.

Items for sale will include custom t-shirts, tumblers, home decor and window decals.

Currently A&A has a private Facebook group to announce items for sale.

Missing Bluffton teen located in Arkansas

During the February 12 regular meeting of Bluffton Council, Bluffton Police Chief Ryan Burkholder reported that the teen previously shown as missing was located that afternoon in Arkansas.

RSVP for Lamb Banquet by February 23

HARDIN COUNTY__The Hardin County Sheep Improvement Association will hold their annual Lamb Banquet on Saturday, March 2 at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Kenton at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the banquet can be reserved from the Extension office by calling 419-674-2297 and paid for at the door the night of the banquet. Adult tickets are $20, Children (4-8 years old) $10, and 2023 Hardin County Junior Fair Sheep Exhibitors are free with a reservation given to the Extension office by February 23. 

Marguerite Laverne (Chalfin) Gould was 105 years old

Marguerite Laverne (Chalfin) Gould, died on February 9, 2024 in Durango, Colorado, where she lived the last twenty-eight years of her life.  She was 105 years old.
