Council agenda for April 4 meeting

The Village of Ada council will hold a regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4 in council chambers on the second floor of the Ada Municipal Building, 115 W. Buckeye.

Two resolutions and seven ordinances will be reviewed for council approval. 

Committee reports previewed are:

• Recommendation for hiring cashiers and lifeguards for the 2023 pool season.

• Recommendation for hiring assistant pool manager.

• Approval to waive storm sewer tap fees for 1 year after the completion of Grandview Boulevard Reconstruction Project.

• Request of the Village to reduce or waive the storm sewer tap fee for Wilson Sporting Goods new manufacturing plant.

Administration reports previewed include:

• Ohio’s new driving while texting law.

Sophomores awarded 117th annual Interclass prize

On Friday, March 31, the sophomore class of Ada High School won the 117th annual Interclass competition. The sophomores were represented by (L-r) Aidra Preston, essay; Ben Burkheimer, poetry; Aubrey Pope, poetry; and Jillian Allison, dramatic reading. Stay tuned for an Iconoclast View on being introduced to the AHS tradition.

ONU women's golf scores new record at invitational

LIMA—Junior Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors in leading the Ohio Northern women's golf team to the championship at the Bluffton Spring Invitational on Sunday at Hidden Creek Golf Club.

The event was initially scheduled for two rounds, but Saturday's first round was canceled due to inclement weather.

The Polar Bears (57-6 overall) won the tournament in record-breaking fashion, shooting an 18-over-par 306 over 18 holes to shatter the old school mark of 314.

Mount St. Joseph finished second with a 323, Bluffton was third with a 327, Tiffin was fourth with a 357, Anderson (Ind.) was fifth with a 385, Marietta was sixth with a 389, and Earlham (Ind.) was seventh with a 424.

Honigford won the individual title, shooting a 1-over-par 73 for her third individual victory this season.
