Cookies with a cop - especially for kids

March 30 at Community Health Professionals

Area youth are invited to a cookies with a cop event from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30 at Community Health Professionals, 1200 S. Main St., Ada.

Children are welcome to come and share cookies and chat with a member of the Ada Police Department. They will also learn about the equipment police officers carry in the police cruiser.

The event is free and open to the public.

Dinner and charity auction April 4

Community Health Professionals Home Care and Hospice

The Community Health Professionals Home Care and Hospice annual Beacon of Hope dinner and charity auction is set for April. The event takes place in CHP's Community Room.

The event includes a 6 p.m. dinner and 7 p.m. auction on Thursday, April 4. Also included is a 50/50 drawing, several door prizes and a live auction.

Tavern 101 caters the dinner and tickets are $20 each. RSVP prior to Monday, March 25, by contacting CHP, 1200 S. Main St., Ada, or call 419-634-7443.

 

Sunday open house for new fellowship hall

At Grace Gospel Church

Grace Gospel Church, 321 N. Gilbert St., Ada, will celebrate the completion of its new fellowship hall later this month, according to Trent Boedicker, pastor.

The celebration is Sunday, Feb. 24. A special worship service is at 10:30 a.m. Following the service will be an open house with a tour of the new facility.

Accolades for ONU cross country teams

All-Academic honors to men’s and women’s teams

ONU men’s and women’s cross country teams received all-academic honors this season. The story follows:

Women’s team

The Ohio Northern women's cross country program has secured its 14th consecutive United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic accolade for their classroom performance during the 2018 season, the national office announced Thursday.

To be considered for the award, teams must post a 3.10 cumulative grade point average or higher on a 4.0 grading scale and register a team score at an NCAA Division III regional competition.

Cello recital Monday

Featuring ONU faculty members Alan Smith and Pamela Ashmore

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present a cello recital at 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, in the Presser Hall recital hall at ONU. The event is free and open to the public.

The recital features cellist Alan Smith accompanied by Pamela Ashmore on piano. Smith is an ONU instructor of cello, and Ashmore is an ONU instructor of piano. The program will include an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary pieces, from composers such as Bach, Granados, Fauré, Rachmaninov, Brahms and Mexican composer Emmanuel Arias y Lunas.

Beginning to feel like maple syrup weather
