Mark Garver worked as a machinist at BPR Manufacturing

Mark S. Garver, 63, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at 5:32 a.m. at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.

He was born on June 29, 1955, in Lima to the late Albert “Bud” and Mae Ann (Evans) Garver. On July 6, 2007, Mark married Mary Fox who survives in Ada.

Mark worked as a machinist at BPR Manufacturing in Lima.  He was an avid New England Patriots fan. Mark loved to go to garage sales and to collect antiques.  He enjoyed history and doing genealogy. The family would especially like to thank the caretakers at St. Rita’s on 4A, 7E, and 5K.

Four ONU groups to attend vet resource and health fair

HealthWise, nursing, pharmacy, Paws for Ability at March 21 Kenton event

A Veterans Resource and Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday March 21, at the Hardin County District Library, 325 E. Columbus St., Kenton.

There will be VA representatives from the VA Hospital, the local County Veteran Service OfficerSteven Gossard, Vet Center counselor,
and representatives from Ohio Northern University,  including the College of Pharmacy, the Department of Nursing, 4 Paws for Ability and ONU Healthwise.

• The Department of Nursing will provide BP, BMI, and vision screenings, along with wellness education.

Green, modern still life

Kylie Colwell, Ada High School sophomore, in Art II, created this green, modern still life. It is among art works by AHS artists on exhibit currently in the Ada Public Library.

Reverse raffle and March Madness coming soon

Ada Athletic Boosters fundraisers this spring

Ada Athletic Boosters are involved in two fundraisers this spring, according to the Booster officers. The first is a reverse raffle and the second is March Madness. Here are summaries of these events:

Reverse raffle
This is the 9th year for the reverse raffle. It takes place Saturday, April 6, at Crimson Lane. 

Booster officers said, “We are very excited for the move to Crimson Lane. We currently have some extra tickets and a growing waiting list. 

Not to early to think about tuxedo rentals for prom

Fred Reichert reminds high schoolers thinking about prom that it's not too early to rent a tuxedo, vest and tie.

Reichert's 111-113 S. Main St., Ada, has tuxedos from:
• Jim's Formalwear
• American Comnmodore
• Geno's Formalware

Rentals include coat, pants, shirt, tie and vest starting at $79.99.

And for wedding parties, with rental of five tuxedos, the sixth tux rental of equal or lesser value is free.

 

Hiring event Friday at Mercy Health, Lima

Mercy Health in partnership with Ohio Means Jobs will hold a hiring event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center auxiliary conference room, 718 W. Market St., Lima, according to Jeremy Amstutz, Mercy Health recruiter. Mercy Health is now hiring for lab, EMT, nutrition and environmental service positions.
