 Ohio Northern junior Amanda Everlove has been selected to participate on the U.S. Paralympic Swimming team at the 2012 London Payalympic Games Aug. 29-Sept. 9.

Everlove qualified for Team USA in the 100 fly, finishing second in the S8 classification in 1:18.23, posting the sixth-fastest time in the world in the event.

She also finished second at the US Trials in the 200 I.M. in 3:12.06 and in the 50 Free in :33.81.

This will be Everlove's second Paralympic Games experience, as she earned three silver medals in the 2008 Games in Beijing in the 50 free, 100 Fly and the 200 I.M. events.

The Apollo board of education will meet on Monday, June 25. One of the points of action is to consider  administrative salaries.

Did you ever wonder who some of Ada's business owners were 100 years ago? Here's an answer. Here are photos of 15 of those business owners.

Businesses included an art studio, bookstore, clothing store, tailor, newspaper, coal dealer, photographer, millinery owner, barber, clothier, furniture dealer and a bicycle repair shop.

 

The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce will meet at 5:15 p.m., Wednesday, June 20, at Community Health Professions, 1200 S. Main St. 

"We will be voting on a interim vice president and one board member," said Deb Curlis, interim chamber director. 

Persons with an interest in either position may contact Curlis.

Curlis, marketing/volunteer coodinator for Community Health Professionals, was named interim director of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, in May. Matt Brown, who had held the position, resigned due to a new position he accepted working with the Duff Companies, located in Huntsville.

There are many ways to tell time in Ada. Perhaps the most familiar clock is in the depot park on Main Street.

"Brave," rated PG,  start at the Ada Theatre on Friday, June 22, according to James Curlis of the theatre.

Shows are:
Fridays and Saturdays at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays matinees at 1:30 and 4 p.m.
Daily at 7 p.m.

"Madagascar 3" ends on Thursday evening.
