Elzay Gallery of Art begins the semester not only with an art show but also with a concert. Composer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist Ben Cosgrove performs at 8 p.m. Friday in the gallery. The program is free and open to the public. Ben’s work is focused on landscape, place, and ecology. “I don’t think of my pieces as rendering places in music,” Ben notes in an article in Harvard Magazine, “but more just as responding to places musically. Writing music just turns out to be a great way for me to process the world.” He travels around the country performing, writes scores for films, plays, radio, and television, and producing several well-received albums of original instrumental music. From 2012 to 2014, he served as an artist-in-residence at Harvard.
