Bulldog boys basketball stifled by NWC champ Bearcats

SPENCERVILLE__The visiting Ada High School boys basketball team lost to league leader Spencerville 60-16 in a Northwest Conference contest that served as the rare Thursday nightcap of a girls/boys doubleheader on February 15.

AE girls basketball powers past Pirates; win streak now 11

HARROD__In a rivalry battle of two teams streaking in opposite directions, the host Allen East girls basketball squad overcame a slow start to regroup and roll over Bluffton 58-33 Thursday on Senior Night, February 15.

Four vie for open Hardin County Commissioner seat

There are no Democratic candidates for Hardin County Commissioner. To cast a vote for Commissioner, voters may request a Republican ballot for the primary. Election Day is Tuesday, March 19.

On February 13, the Ada Rotary Club hosted four Republican candidates for an open Hardin County Commission seat. Each presented their qualifications and the ideas they feel are most important to the future of Hardin County.

Invitation to March 20 United Way annual meeting

KENTON__ The United Way of Hardin County is excited to announce the 2024 Annual Meeting, which will be on Thursday, March 20th, from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Varsity Venue.

This year’s annual meeting will include the presentation of our annual Campaign awards, thanking our outgoing Board members and Honorary Chair, and hosting the Bonnie McBride Memorial Pie Auction. There will also be light hors d’oeuvres and various drinks. A 50/50 raffle will be offered, with tickets available by cash, check, or credit card at the door.

The annual meeting will feature a short business meeting to review the organization’s financials, and highlight where the United Way is heading.

Hardin County "CHIP" committee invites the public to Feb. 21 meeting

Hardin County's Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) committee will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 for the new CHIP draft presentation and to get the committee's feedback for the final draft.

Agricultural Drone Use is topic of Feb. 22 breakfast

HARDIN COUNTY__The 2024 Conservation Tillage Club breakfast program series will conclude on Thursday, February 22 at the Plaza Inn Restaurant, 491 S. Main, Mt. Victory, Ohio. 

  • 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary buffet breakfast
  • 8:00 a.m. Drone use in agriculture program

Henry County OSU Extension Educator Alan Leininger will provide the program. Drones are becoming more common in agriculture than just for scouting crops for insects, weeds, and disease. More recently, they are increasingly being used for seeding cover crops and pesticide applications in fields throughout Ohio. What types of drones are available and what are the legal and licensing requirements to use these new tools on the farm will be questions answered by Leininger.

My Heart Will Go On: Heart health

Celine Dion released the single My Heart Will Go On as part of the Titanic movie sound track in November of 1997.  The song hit the top of the charts in 25 countries and was the best-selling single in 1998.  The song dominated the 1999 Grammy Awards and won an Academy Award.  

Celine is known for her powerful voice with strong technical skills.  She recently has suspended all shows due to her developing a rare disease known as stiff-person syndrome.  It was announced in January of 2024 that Amazon MGM Studios will be releasing a documentary about this topic titled I Am: Celine Dion.
