The Village of Ada Council met on December 6 for the first of two December regular sessions. The meeting was chaired by Mayor David Retterer. Council members in attendance were Sheila Coressel, Jason Campbell, Linda Mason, Jeff Oestreich and Bob Simmons. Sean Beck was absent.
The meeting packet including the agenda is HERE. At this meeting, council chambers were arranged in a new fashion with councilors and staff in a u-shape and seating for guests on the fourth side of the room.

On January 4-5, 2023, the Ohio Organic Grains Conference will be held in Archbold, Ohio. This new event is geographically positioned in the tri-state region (Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan) and is intended for current, transitioning and new-to organic grain farmers, crop consultants, agency personnel, input suppliers, and grain buyers.
At approxminately 3:00 a.m., the Hardin County Sheriff's office reported:
"We are aware that the majority of the county is currently without power. As a result, our non-emergency phone lines are currently down. For all emergencies dial 9-1-1. For all non-emergencies dial 419-673-1905.
"As a reminder--if you encounter a stop light that is out, treat it as a 4-way stop."
MT. BLANCHARD - The potent Bulldog girls' backcourt combined for 35 points to lead the visiting Ada girls basketball team over Riverdale 44-35 in a non-league contest Tuesday night, December 6.
The Bulldog girls improved to 3-3 with their second straight win. The Falcon girls fell to 1-5 with the defeat.
DIY NATURE - CONSTELLATION PICTURES

The invitation: “Learn about the constellations in the night sky and the stories that are behind them. We’ll then create a constellation picture that can light up and take it home. No need to dress for the weather, we’ll be indoors for the entire program.”

"The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" is considered one of the best Christmas songs of all time. It was released on October 14, 1963 as part of the first Christmas album by singer Andy Williams. Interestingly, this song was not selected to be the promotional single for the album, but was sidelined for his song "White Christmas."
This week, area resident Martin Fisher spotted and successfully photographed a bald eagle on Township Road 30.
While the bald eagle population in Ohio is growing, Hardin County has had nest counts in the single digits recently. A 2020 map of Ohio bald eagle nests shows 9 nests in Hardin County, some counties with zero nests, and a high of 90 nests in Ottawa County on Lake Erie.
The 2020 bald eagle nest total was 707. In March 2022, the estimated nest count was 806.
The Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program has announced that 2,277 blighted and vacant structures in 42 counties will be demolished to pave the way for new economic development and housing opportunities across the state. Twenty of these projects are in Hardin County (see attached list).
The projects will be funded with the Ohio Demolition and Site Revitalization Program set-aside grants announced for each county in July. Thirteen counties will also receive additional program funding totaling $35.3 million to cover expenses in excess of the initial set-aside grants.
In total, the Ohio Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program will award nearly $150 million in grants for projects across the state. Details on demolition projects in additional counties will be provided in the coming weeks.
