He's ONU's all-time career rushing leader

Junior All-American Christiaan Williams - and ONU stops Heidelberg

Junior All-American Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) became ONU's all-time career rushing leader as the Ohio Northern football team celebrated Senior Day with a 34-28 Bendekovic Bowl victory over Heidelberg on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Dial-Roberson Stadium.

Williams has gained 4,197 yards in just 29 career games and passed the previous record of 4,169 by All-American and former NFL standout Jamal Robertson from 1997-2000.

The Polar Bears (6-4 overall) finished tied for third in the 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-3 league mark with the win.

ONU women focused on the process in 2019-20

The Ohio Northern women's basketball team brings back its second-, third- and fourth-leading scorers for the 2019-20 season. And while that's plenty of production coming back, the challenge for 19th-year head coach Michele Durand is identifying a new go-to scorer, and that may not be one single player.

"We've had that go-to player for quite a few years now, but I think it's going to be a committee of people this year," Durand said. "… Our motto is, 'Tough and together.' We really have to be tough and really have to be together. If we are together, I think we can win some games."

Vancrest's spotlight is on Pauline Shadley

Ada HS and ONU grad, she taught 4th grade for 30 years.

Lifelong Ada resident Pauline Shadley is the November Vancrest spotlight resident, and she well deserves the honor.

In case you don’t know Pauline, she is an assisted living resident at Vancrest and is an Ada High School and Ohio Northern University graduate, having graduated with a degree in education.

What you may not know about her is that she played basketball all through her school days, making that her favorite sport.

She spent her professional career teaching fourth grade in Perry schools, Allen County.
