Local students on Bluffton University spring dean’s list

Bluffton University has announced the dean’s list for undergraduate students for the spring 2019 term. Students with a GPA of 3.6 or higher are eligible for the dean’s list.

Bluffton University students from our area named to the dean’s list are:
Justina Fuqua, Ada
Blake Obenour, Dunkirk
Taylor Ramey, Ada

Students with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 based on 20 semester hours
received dean’s list with distinction for continued high achievement.

Double feature at library on Wednesday

Ada Public Library features a free showing of two movies on Wednesday, June 26:

These movie showings are part of the library’s summer reading program activities. Popcorn will be provided. You may bring a drink with a lid.

A set of U.S. postal service stamps this spring reminded several area historians, artists and stamp collectors of Ada's historic post office mural.

Ada’s mural “Country Dance,” an oil-on-canvas painting by Albert Kotin, was completed in 1940 and installed in the lobby of the post office constructed two years earlier. The mural extends nearly 12 feet across.

On April 10 the postal service issued a 10-stamp series featuriing five post office murals created in the 1930s and 1940s.

School board meets Thursday

The Ada school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 27, for its monthly meeting.

Wednesday St. Mark Lutheran community meal cancelled

The St. Mark Lutheran Church community meal scheduled for Wednesday, June 26, is cancelled, according to the church. The next meal is Wednesday, July 31.

Coding Unplugged session at library on Wednesday

Ada Public Library is hosting "Coding Unplugged" on Wednesday, June 26 at 6 p.m.  Chloe Noel, technology assistant, will be leading the session for sixth through eighth graders, on how to write computer code without a computer. 

This is part of the summer reading program. Participants will receive a ticket towards prizes.

This summer’s Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival has a new look with several new features.

Chris DiBiasio, chair of the event, updated the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce members during the chamber’s June meeting.

Here’s a summary of the festival so far:

The festival is Saturday, Aug. 24. It opens with the Wilson’s annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to noon.

In the morning is a scrimmage featuring Ada versus Perry at ONU’s Dial Robertson Stadium. Following that scrimmage, ONU will scrimmage Triune University of Angola, Ind.  

Farmer information meeting in Ada Thursday

Mark Badertscher: "This is all about crop producers managing their unplanted acres as a result of the wet spring"

The Ohio No-Till Council and OSU Extention will hold an information meet in Ada on Thursday for area farmers who have unplanted acres and need information about what to do with these fields, according to Mark Badertscher of the Hardin extension office.

The meeting is from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in McIntosh Center on the ONU campus.

Badertscher said that the meeting will address answers about crop insurance, weed control and cover crops.

Resource persons attending:
• Jeff Stachler, OSU Extension Auglaize County, will discuss weed control on prevented planting acres. 

1990 Ada HS flag corp

The Ada High School flag corp won first place at the Allen County Fair in the baton/flag corp competition in August 1990.
