Women’s soccer at home Saturday

This Weekend's Preview: The No. 8-ranked Ohio Northern women's soccer team raises the curtain on their 2018 home slate when the Polar Bears host Case Western Reserve on Saturday, September 8 … Match time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Kerscher Stadium in Ada … The match marks the start of a three-game home stand for Northern as they are also slated to welcome in Trine (Ind.) and Alma (Mich.) next  … ONU enters the home opener with an 0-2-0 record.

Case Western Reserve enters the nonconference affair with a 1-1-0 overall record.

Amburgey wins ribbons at fair

Ada High School student Austin Amburgey has had a stellar week at the fair. In the rabbit show, he won Overall Reserve Champion Commercial Buck, Champion Senior Buck New Zealand, Reserve Champion Senior Doe New Zealand, Reserve Champion Junior Doe Mini Rex and placed second in Showmanship. In poultry he placed fourth in showmanship. And, he is a member of the Junior Fair Board.

 

Ada HS grad wins awards at fair

Justin Light, Ada High School grad and last year’s Hardin County fair king, won first place in stakes and first place in keyhole at this year’s county fair.

Light wins reserve grand champion at fair

Ada sophomore Megan Light won reserve grand champion for born and raised lamb at the county fair.

Military Appreciation Night at football game

All veterans and active duty personnel will be honored at Military Appreciation Night at the football game between Ada and Spencerville on Friday, Sept. 21. They will be invited onto the field for the National Anthem, have free admittance to the game, receive a meal ticket, and be given a shirt commemorating the evening.

Mattson receives awards at fair

Nathan Mattson received several awards at the Hardin County Fair, including second place in showmanship, first place in the intermediate Holstein Heifer class, junior grand champion in the Holstein Heifer Class and reserve grand champion in the Holstein Heifer show.

Local students win at county fair

Ada area students who were among Hardin County Fair winners included these three awards:

Bottom photo—Miguel Jordan, grand champion doe fancy Britannia, then competed in the “final drive” and took best of show overall with his Britannia petite.

Holden Purdy won division champ in market hogs. Sidney Gossard had Reserve Champion Lamb and Caitlyn Stover won Senior Poultry Showmanship.

El Campo pledges "All out for United Way"

The restaurant donates percentage of sales to UW on Sept. 11

Hardin County United Way invites you to El Campo's on Tuesday Sept. 11, according to Phyllis Griffith, board member.

Enrique Cabrera, manager of El Campo Mexican Restaurant, 204 N. Main St., Ada, is ready to welcome patrons for the first “All Out “for this year’s campaign for United Way of Hardin County on the 11th.

The restaurant, open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., will donate a percentage of its sales that day.

UW of Hardin County is very appreciative of the support of restaurants who will sponsor these events to kickoff the annual campaign.

Who says dogs and cats don't get along

The new Ada Dog Park has a mascot. A cat!

Who says dogs and cats don’t get along? Oftentimes, when dogs are playing in the park, the Rettig cat next door wanders across the stone drive to the park to checkout the dogs who are there.

The cat rubs against the fence and the curious dogs romp over to see the cat. They spy each other, rub noses through the wire fence, and become friends.

Here is some information about the new dog park for those who have recently moved to town, especially students who live in apartments with dogs as pets:

Flamingo Designer Purse Bingo event Sept. 22

in the Marathon Auditorium of Blanchard Valley Hospital, Findlay

Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH) Gift Shop, Findlay, will host “Flamingo Designer Purse Bingo,” a bingo event with designer purses as prizes, including purses from brands such as Michael Kors and Kate Spade. 

This event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, in the Marathon Auditorium of BVH, located at 1900 S. Main St., Findlay. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the first bingo call will take place at 7 p.m. Attendees can enjoy bingo, silent auctions, a 50/50 raffle and additional raffles. Light snacks will be provided.
