June 2017

This Saturday is your last day to buy mulch from the Lions Club this year. The club, which sells mulch to support its scholarship program, extended sales into June this year since most Saturdays in May were rained out.

To order, call 419-634-5626 or 419-302-5897 for delivery on Saturday. Or, you may stop by their mulch supply on Saturday morning from 8 am until noon with your own truck or trailer.

Brown mulch costs $30 per Bobcat load while black mulch goes for $35. For pickup, the mulch is available at Bass Trucking, 0410 SR 81, just west of Ada.

Since beginning an exercise class in January, Harold Cotsamire (far right in photo) has developed a program that draws about 20 people on Monday and Friday mornings. The exercise routine begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Ada United Methodist Church. The class includes standing, sitting, and stretching movements.

He explained that everyone is welcome---men and women, no age requirement, no advanced signup, you don't have to be a member of the church to attend, just a desire to stay healthy. And, it's free.

The meeting was called to order by Zac Briendenbach.  Wade Crooks led the Pledge of Allegiance  and Will Jones led the 4-H Pledge.  Bradley Flowers did the roll call and the question was "your favorite football team".  The Treasurer reported that some members still need to pay for the 4-H project books and 4-H dues.  The Health & Safety Report was about "Don't drink too much coffee".  A demonstration was given by Emily Jones, Will Jones and Bradley Flowers with their chicken, goose and turkey projects.  The Recreation Leaders let the club know that Tag would be held after the meeting.

Can an Icon viewer identify the location of the bookstore for the record?

Meet Hazel. She is a 5 year old female walker hound mix. She weighs 36 pounds and is available now. Can you give Hazel a forever home?

To give a dog a forever home, contact the Hardin County dog shelter. It is located at 49 Jones Road on the west side of Kenton.

Hours: 9 am to 4 pm on Monday, Thursday, and Friday. Phone: 419-674-2209.

Generally, about 20 to 25 dogs are available for viewing.

The shelter is also the place to contact for giving up a dog, if you find a lost or stray dog, or if you come in contact with a vicious dog. It costs $20 to surrender a dog, which pays for deworming and immunizations for when it is rescued.
