Village Voice: Village brush pick up/chipping service scheduled April 6

Have the winds of this winter helped ‘trim’ a few of your trees? Do you need to have some limbs picked up and chipped? Now is your chance!

The Village will conduct a monthly service of brush pick up/chipping and pick up on Monday, April 6.

One of the goals of brush chipping and pickup is to keep the tree lawn areas of the Village clear of debris, so that debris litter does not enter the storm sewer system. Brush or storm debris in the tree lawn area may be picked up by the Village, and residents may place additional brush for chipping in that area. Hired tree trimmers must clean up their own debris; the Village will not pick up brush left by commercial cutters.

Ada Music Boosters have a detergent and trash bag deal for you

The Ada High School musical "Oklahoma" will be performed in April. And, to help pay for props, costumes and equipment for this and other programs, the Ada Music Boosters are holding a detergent and trash bag fundraiser. The sale runs through April 15.

Here’s how it works:

Gentlemen, start your Baja car engines

ONU students design, build, test, and race a Baja car. And, they do it as a club...no academic credit...just the joy of learning and competing.

A couple of years ago the local team ranked third in points on the international level. The Baja Race Series has more than 100 teams and is sanctioned by the Society of Automotive Engineers.

In April and May they will race in three states from coast to coast. Working on the project is open to all students, although civil and mechanical engineering students seem to be in the majority.

Face it - there's lots of polar bears in Ada, just don't get too close to this one

By Monty Siekerman
An interesting piece of art at King-Horn on campus is viewed by many people every day. It's the face of a polar bear. Up close, the installation looks like a bunch of blurred tiles. As you move away from the art piece, the image of the school's mascot becomes clearer and clearer...intriguing, bordering on "participatory art," never boring no matter how many times you pass by, and often talked about by those who come upon it...almost stops you in your tracks, unexpectedly. We asked the artist to comment on her work...here is her reply:
