Plans for New Year’s Eve?

Why not dazzle your party (or yourself) by testing your knowledge of Ada? To do so, we present the Ada Icon 2014 New Year’s Eve Quiz.

Here’s how it works. Here are 15 questions about Ada worth 45 points. Answers are based events of  2014. The correct answers are below our quiz, so you may grade yourself, but it’s totally the honor system.

Some questions are easy, some take some thinking and others are downright stinkers.

Of course, the stinkers are worth more points than others due to the skill level required to answer them correctly.

Here’s the scoring system:

40 to 45 points – Ada genius

The holidays often find us with an excess of many things, including refuse.

Please remember to call the Water Office at 419-634-4045 or contact the office via email through the Village website, by the end of the day on Monday of each week, if you will have extra items for the regular weekly refuse pick up.

Waste Management may leave items that are outside of totes if we do not hear from you.

For your safety, please be sure to bag any refuse, including boxes and packaging. Refuse pickup after the holidays can be an ideal time for would-be thieves to scope out what new electronics and toys you may have received based on the boxes that have been left out for pick up.

Following the passage of the extenders legislation, the Internal Revenue Service announced today it anticipates opening the 2015 filing season as scheduled in January.

The IRS will begin accepting tax returns electronically on Jan. 20. Paper tax returns will begin processing at the same time.

The decision follows Congress renewing a number of "extender" provisions of the tax law that expired at the end of 2013. These provisions were renewed by Congress through the end of 2014. The final legislation was signed into law Dec. 19, 2014.

A Christmas season visitor to the Ada Public Library bids farewell to patrons until next December. Twinkle, one of Santa's elves, spent the month in the library.

Each day Twinkle found a new location to watch patrons. And now Twinkle is ready to head back to the North Pole. He made the staff brunch for his last trick.

Accoding to the library staff: "It was so nice to have him around the library; watching and listening for all the good boys and girls. Thanks to you, we made the nice list!"
