Ada observes drinking water week

The Village of Ada is joining communities across North America in celebrating Drinking Water Week, an annual observance led by the American Water Works Association.

Taking place May 5-11 this year, Drinking Water Week serves to highlight the importance of safe drinking water and recognize the tireless efforts of water professionals who keep it flowing around the clock in our communities.

In honor of Drinking Water Week, the Village of Ada encourages everyone to hydrate as we approach summer. When outdoors, drink 1 cup (8 ounces) of water every 15–20 minutes to replenish your body and deter dehydration and heat stroke.

See how you can “Follow the H2O” within the Village of Ada at the community bulletin board located in the Railroad Park.

Children of all ages are encouraged to pick up a free activity book and coloring sheet at the Ada Public Library to celebrate the week.

This year's celebration coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) in the United States, a landmark law designed to safeguard the public by setting high drinking water quality standards.

The Village of Ada’s Water Plant Operator, John Bowers, stated, “I'm happy to be behind the scenes ensuring our residents and businesses have safe, reliable, and affordable water.  I also want to recognize our Public Works professionals. In the event of a problem, they are the ones who take action to repair the water-mains to restore service as quickly as possible so our residents can go about their daily lives.”
