Ada-Liberty Township fire chief, Jay Epley, posted a YouTube video to area voters to support the Nov. 6 fire levy.

He said that the Nov. 6 ballot will find a 1 mill, five-year tax levy to replace the department’s oldest truck, which equates to $100 a year for five years on property with an assessed valuation of $100,000.

The new truck will be more mechanically reliable and will have greater improvements, such as water pumping capacity, computer-operated pump controls, and the capacity to use foam to suppress fires that involve gasoline, tires, oil and other fuels.

The fire department serves 36 square miles of Liberty Township and 10 square miles of Orange Township to the north.

The fire department responds to 100 incidents a year to suppress fires, extricate victims from vehicle crashes, rescue motorists from high water, investigate fire and smoke alarms, assist EMS, search for missing persons, assist with meth lab investigations, hazardous material spills, and other emergencies.
